Saturday Morning - Fundamentals of Drawing & Watercolor for Nature Journaling 9:30 am-12:30 pm Led by artist and educator, Ursula Wollenberg, participants will be guided through the fundamentals of breaking down objects like birds, trees and flowers into basic shapes for accessible drawing. Then, she will guide us through step-by-step, easy ways to use and blend watercolor paints for depth, light and texture. These exercises will be focused on using your drawing and painting techniques to record observations in the natural world around you. Saturday Afternoon - Handmade Journal with Coptic Stitch Binding 1:30-5:30 pm After a lunch break, we will settle in to hand-make our nature journals. From the covers through the stitching of each signature, you will learn the book-making process from start to finish, creating your personal bound sketchbook/journal. This creates a relationship with your tool as you use it to record new ways of seeing and experiencing the natural world. Sunday-Nature Journaling in Practice 1:00 - 5:00 pm Time to get outside and discover new ways of seeing, experiencing, appreciating & documenting the natural world around you! When we stimulate our curiosity and learn about seeing vs looking, contemplating, expressing in words and pictures, asking meaningful questions, paying attention and discovering details, having feelings and thoughts about what we observe, we are brought into relationship with these things, nurturing a finer sensitivity to our external and internal environments. This provides new opportunities to experience nature rather than simply moving through it. On this day bring walking shoes and rubber boots for crossing a creek. Weather permitting, we will walk to the river just near the Wild Arts studio. All materials + Snacks + Drinks Provided This workshop is for adults and hosted at the Wild Arts Learning Center in Springfield, MO. Address emailed upon booking.
