Service Description

Pre-requisite: Botanical Printing: Basics Once you've been introduced to the fine art of botanical printing onto paper and flower hammering onto fabric in our basics workshop, you will be ready to explore further with this "next steps" workshop. You will walk away with a greater understanding of mordants, tannins, blankets, submersion methods, the dirty pot, and sustainable practices. We will: - Work with protein fibers, primarily silk - Use your prior knowledge in iron and tannin reactions to create different effects with and without dye blankets - Create a fabric project via the steam method - Create a fabric project via the submersion method - Create a fabric project with the dirty pot method This workshop is an all-day event because each project must steam/simmer for 90 minutes. Participants will be provided with two protein fiber scarves. If you wish to steam additional pieces, you will need to bring your own pre-prepared (scoured and mordanted) fabrics. All materials + snacks + drinks provided This workshop is for adults and hosted at the Wild Arts Learning Center in Springfield, MO. For locals: just out east Sunshine and around the bend from Turner's Station off J Hwy. The address and directions are emailed upon booking.
