Adults - Plants & Scraps Handmade Paper
Learn how to prep plants & scrap/waste paper to create handmade paper, then stitch-bind into a book.
Service Description
In this workshop, participants will learn the hand paper-making process and how plant materials (we use rattlesnake master and cattails) can be used alone or incorporated with junk/scrap paper to create unique and beautiful sheets of paper. You will then take your handmade paper, and/or other sketch paper, and learn how to stitch signatures together and then stitch into a book. Session 1: Friday, 6:00 - 8:00 pm Participants will learn how fibers are processed to make paper pulp and will then form each sheet by using a traditional mold and deckle. Options for adding decorative elements like flowers, strings and colors will be available. Sheets will then be dried and flattened for later use. Session 2: Saturday, 9:30 am - 12:30 pm Participants will return to learn how to stitch either their newly produced paper, regular sketch paper, and/or both into ready-to-use sketchbooks. Each student will leave with their hand-bound books as well as information on how to set up and start making paper at home. Materials + Snacks + Drinks provided This workshop is hosted at the Wild Arts Learning studio in Springfield, MO, just around the bend from Turner's Station. The address is emailed upon booking
