Watercolor as Meditation w/ Ryan McClain
Learn to slow down, breathe, be mindful and relax through the calm medium of watercolor painting.
Service Description
Join us for a time of pursuing mindfulness and meditation through painting loose watercolor landscapes. Participants will enjoy a quiet, peaceful atmosphere created for the purpose of slowing down and unwinding. This workshop is led by artist Ryan McClain, Watercolor USA qualifier. He will share accessible watercolor techniques that can pave the way for an easy, no-stress way to explore watercolor as a meditative practice. "I am inspired by the beauty of the natural world. I spent almost a decade as an arborist before I started my career in education, teaching science, social studies, art, and music. I started painting about 8 years ago and use it in my own life as a means of stress relief and relaxation. I focus more on the process than the product and believe that we learn valuable things when we fail. Even when paintings don't turn out the way I intend, I change direction or I just count them as learning experiences. It is a real practice in growth mindset and mindfulness, and it can be a very meditative experience. I currently work as the Diversion Specialist at Ozark Jr High and High Schools. I support students who are struggling, and one of the ways I connect with them is through painting." - Ryan Materials + Snacks + Drinks provided This workshop is for adults and hosted at the Wild Arts Learning Center in Springfield, MO.
