For the curious maker - interested in exploring the art of hand crafted paper and books, with an emphasis on understanding source materials and historic methods applied in a modern context.   

Handcrafted Bound Journal

FULL PROGRAM - $1500

  • 12 Days

Our program is designed to prepare you for a practice in the pursuit of handmade paper and books. This craft connects us to our human lineage of transmitting information, sharing ideas and art, recording our stories and history, inspiring our future, and cultivating hand skills.

PAPER

  • 3 Days

Make handcrafted paper with different plant fibers, learning how to process both wild and commercially availabile fibers, size, use stencils and marble.

BOOKBINDING & BOX MAKING

  • 6 Days

Learn to make several types of bindings with different sewing methods, various cased-in and hardcover techniques, how to make your own book cloth, create enclosures, and more.

LEATHER & TOOLING

  • 3 Days

Dive into the art of creating leather-bound books with impressions, carvings and stamping. Our leather is responsibly sourced and vegetable tanned.

NOTE: There will be a "Repair & Restoration" the following week and can be registered for separately. Participants of this course will receive a 25% off  discount.
