85 US dollars
Wild Arts Learning Center

Service Description

This workshop will introduce participants to the basics of loom weaving. Tim will discuss the history of weaving, identifying loom styles & function of its parts, and what can be made on a loom. Participants will then move on to weave either a table runner or a place mat with recycled/reclaimed fabrics of their choice. At the conclusion of the class, rugs will be cut off the looms and ends finished so they can be taken home. Tim will bring samples of items woven on looms for students to draw inspiration for future projects.  ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTOR Tim learned to weave in 2014 when the museum he worked for restored an antique loom and he had to demonstrate it. After initially weaving rag rugs, Tim taught himself fancier weave structures and began a never ending adventure in weaving. Tim has been actively involved with 4 weaving guilds, taken classes, taught classes, and continues to learn new weave structures and techniques, including spinning and using natural dyes for some projects. Snacks + Drinks provided This workshop is for adults and is hosted at the Wild Arts Learning Center in Springfield, MO. For locals, it is out east Sunshine, just around the bend from Turner's Station, off J. The address is emailed upon booking.
