Hand-stitched Woodland Creature - Bunny
Learn to make heirloom soft toys in this sweet woodland creature series.
Service Description
In this Hand-stitched Woodland Creature series, Èirigh will guide participants in how to make an adorable set of heirloom cloth toys. Come for an afternoon of whimsy, gentle hand sewing and warm community. You will learn accessible hand sewing techniques that pave the way for easy, portable, no-stress options to explore sewing. These skills also translate beautifully to full-scale garments making, thus making it a perfect maiden voyage into sewing your own clothes, should you be interested in that! Each participant will use reclaimed fabric and undyed wool roving to make a 5.5” mouse toy, perfect for play or 1:12 dollhouse scale! You will also have the option to begin working on a small outfit or accessory. You will learn about each step involved in sewing your creature and garments: * Pattern layout, tracing and cutting demonstration * Skills building with running stitch, back stitch, ladder stitch and French knotting * Clipping the edges for smooth turning * Right side and wrong side of fabric * Skill building with turning and stuffing with natural, undyed wool * Discussion about the architecture of sewing three-dimensional objects You will also learn interesting facts about historical perspectives on material culture, sewing and woodland animals as whimsical companions for children.
