Service Description

Join us to explore basic weaving techniques for basketry and other projects, including how to make cordage. You will learn about both cultivated and wild, foraged fibers that can be used for a variety of weaving endeavors, historical uses of different materials and how to create with combined materials. This is not a basketry workshop, but rather a beginner's workshop in how to start looking for and working with wild materials for basic weaving techniques. You will make a small woven cattails matt (which is the basic technique for starting a basket), process yucca for the fibers and use rattlesnake master to make cordage and and twining in your mat. Materials + snacks + drinks provided This workshop is hosted at the Wild Arts Learning studio in Springfield, MO. Address and directions will be emailed upon booking.
