Service Description

Matt Levy is the Co-Author of "Wild Clay" and is a ceramic educator and professional living and working in Minnesota. Join us for this 3-day workshop where Matt will guide us through various topics from sourcing local clays and rocks, processing your materials, and testing for toxic ingredients like lead and arsenic. We will make different clay bodies and explore both kiln and wood pit firing for various clays. No experience in clay is necessary as we will cover the basics of integrating wild clay into any art practice and how to utilize these local materials for educational opportunities. The class will be based on clay sourced from around the Wild Arts Learning Center property, but participants are encouraged to bring their own local clays for testing! Participants will go home with their clay projects, a handmade sieve for processing clay and a guide with instructional materials to continue exploring the wild world of found clays. Daily Schedule Details: TBA May 3-5, 2024 at the Wild Arts Learning Center
