Making Pens from Natural Materials

Service Description

This workshop is an introduction to pen-making with natural materials, taught by artist and retired MSU professor, Jerry Hatch. Jerry has been teaching and making with natural materials for more than 40 years. You will be shown how to make pens from reeds, bamboo, Hickory shoots Miscanthus grass and feathers. You will then have an opportunity to try them on a variety of surfaces with natural inks like black walnut and earth mineral inks. Approximate length of the workshop will be about 2.5 hours.
