Service Description
Join herbalist Cassie Miller for an informative and inspiring day of learning about herbalism for your family! This workshop provides foundational education and opportunities to learn through the hands-on creation of kid-friendly herbals. In this class you will learn how to confidently utilize herbs to support body systems, recommended beginner herbs, safety guidelines, and recipes you can start utilizing right away. Participants will also take home detailed document on the information discussed, monographs, recipes, and products created in class. Information Covered - Plants and how they work: with hands-on and possible plant walk (dependant on weather) - Intro to energetics: how herbs support vs "heal all." - How to read monographs - Herbal book recommendations to begin with - How to read directions on making and dosing herbal concoctions. - List of “generally considered safe” herbs for kids with directions on how to use the Clark's rule (scratch, rub, test) for safety - Preparations: infusions, teas, glycerites, vinegars, syrups and honeys. What are they? How do you choose what to use and when? - Teas: how to use for support and acute help with taste experience of lemon balm, calming tea mix, nutrient-rich teas, etc. - Edibles: tips and tricks to get kids to take herbs - Topicals: liniments, salves, lotions, balms, sprays, poultices, etc., what they are, how to prepare and when to use what - Inhalation: steams, essential oils, simmer pots, rice bags, playdough, etc. Grown-ups, you are welcome to bring your kiddos if needed, just be sure and let us know ahead of time so we are appropriately prepared. Keep in mind that we will have a “Me, My Grown-up and Herbs” class in the future since this one is geared toward the grown-ups. So, be on the lookout for more kid-centric workshops!
